ICR2 disappointing

Hello all,

Well I've just downloaded ICR2 and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with it.  It looks just like the first one with slightly better graphics.  It looks like they just took the original ICR game and converted it to use the Nascar engine.

It doesn't look like they've improved on the Nascar engine very much either.  The graphics aren't that good (especially compared to F1GP II).  To be honest I haven't had a good play at it yet, but I'm not saying it's crap.  I really like the original ICR so because it hasn't changed that much I will probably grow to like.  It's just that I was expecting something more radical.

As I said before I havent really played it yet but I hope that the AI has improved immensley even though the graphics havent.

Well,

in my opinion the AI hasn't improved or papyrus has forgotten the mirrors on
the computercars. When you try to overtake a computer he forces you right into
the grass. I looks like they all are Schumachers; simply close the door when
someone is overtaking you!

I think Indycar2 isn't more than just an update of Indycar, something like
indycar 1.5.
I really look forward to F1GP2, a game which really is worth buying.

What did you expect? That Laguna Seca would be a totally different track?
Laguna Seca is still located somewhere in the desert in Monterey, CA.
Same for Michigan, it's not much to add is it? Although what's lacking is
pitlane graphics. It seems that the pitlane has been abandoned. Where are
the fuelrigs, people, trucks, etc. Also the infield at Michigan is almost
completely empty... But this is nitpicking.

ICR II rules! It's a long story that you will know when you done a great
deal of laps.

Practice is the only way. And the AI has been vastly improved!

Btw use the 'Return' key after each sentence...

This is incompetent hogwash and obviously you can't drive.
Anyone who has at least once raced at Laguna Seca in ICR 1.x
knows that the AI has at least improved 200%.
And why the hell should the cars yield way to you unless you can't 'grab'
the racing line? "Ohh, they should because I am the human player."
You've got to earn it. I am fairly good at ICR and often I can spend
several laps trying to pass a competitor in ICR II with opponent strength
set to 100% and damage set to realistic.

Suck ***knuckle! Give this man Donkey Kong!

Well, who the hell knows what F1GP 2 will be like, it may turn out
to be a game or maybe it comes with as many setup options as do ICR II,
then you will have to play F1GP for another couple of years. You deserve it!

Your comparing still shots of replays to actual working gameplay.
and if you haven't heard, F!GP2 has been delayed til spring, So keep
looking forward to it....Remember lots of the detail damage is crippled
in the demo, the Cars now have both speedway and roadcourse wing shapes
the car can now be completely painted whereas before places like the top
of the side pods could only be filled in with a single color and no
decals.  Plus ICR2 is now compatible with the Hawaii racing network that
Papyrus is testing with Nascar.  And since you can have SVGA graphics
where before there was NO option for SVGA, I'd be more than comfortable
calling it a 2.0.
And remember, the goal was to have a sim that 486's could drive,
from the sound of it, F!GP2 is too much for even p6's.

(I'll wait til both sims are out and in final update form before
comparing them.)

What I've noticed from the demo is that the computer cars are still
able to spin miraculously around in record time after a spin out.
This hasn't changed from NASCAR, and is a real stupid oversight to me.
I haven't noticed any specifics of where the AI has improved, either.

Bill.

Well, I don't know if it's configurable in the demo without the 'icr2edit'
program posted earlier, but the game features something called 'spin
recovery' that gives your car the same ability.  Spin out, and when you've
come to a complete stop, you magically spin facing the direction you should
be going.  So while it's not realistic for the computer-controlled cars, at
least it's fair, because you can do it, too!
