Bought one, but just like do with every other game, want to play it without
the CD. But the NoCD patches I could find simply did not work, as still
asking for the CD. Any ideas?

Be sure to get the right version. It does work.  f1rc_nocd.exe That is the
file you want. Extract the no-cd f1rc.exe from there and overwrite your game
f1rc.exe.

No it doesn't work for everyone!  See previous posts on this and many
discussions on High Gear.
For me and others it needs ANY CD in the drive to work, which is better than
nothing I suppose. Hopefully there will be a corrected one for the new
patch.

I feel like a broken record here :)

Use CloneCD to make an image of the CD.

Then use DaemonTools to mount and use the Image you created.  Set
DaemonTools to emulate the protection the CD had.

Thar she blows!

The ONLY CD I have not been able to get this to work with so far is GP3
(though I"m sure there are others to be found).

That's useful info, if we were talking about burning a "backup".(Or get a
nice Plextor with original firmware)

I found the no-cd exe worked fine with my UK bought F1RC. I didn't know
there were problems with other versions, and I didn't think to check through
masses of previous posts either, sorry.

Yes, I have seen the posts in HG Forum, and they are mostly referring to
backups ! Pauolo specifically states that he has bought the game. And the
no-cd works for that.
Thanks.

Sorry, I'm not really trying to labour the point here, but you're missing
what I'm saying - THE NO-CD PATCH  DOESN'T WORK FOR EVERYONE.  Nothing to do
with backups! Even within the UK version, it works for some but not others.
To repeat however, if you have any CD in your drive the patch works for most
people.

Just go to GCW to get the NOCD patches (including GP3) - it's so much
easier!
