Hi Ymenard,

>It must be the British accent !

Dodgy ground there, John is Scottish, and has a great soft Scottish accent
not British, as you have differences in Canada with French and non-french
speaking/differences/cultures etc. We here in the United Kingdom have four
main different cultures, English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish. All have their
own language, cultures and accents, some there own law and government,
collectively we are British but there is no such thing as a British accent
;-)) I won't bore you with too much detail but the English are further split
by Northerners and Southerners, Northerners are further split into Geordies,
Yorkshireman etc. etc.

Hehe sorry about the lesson, but as you can see we are actually a very multi
cultural nation, not to mention numerous other cultures within such as
Asian, West Indian etc. etc.

Oh BTW I have a LAN party with John and a few others at the weekend, does
this mean that we have to have a dead horse in the corner for John to keep
beating??

Best apologise to John lest he turn up at your place wearing a kilt and
showing you and your neighbours exactly what Scotsman don't wear under it
;-)

Take Care

Mark  :-)

Ah oops ;-) . My apologies for such a ignorant globalisation of your
country. I should had though about with... Wallace...Obi-Wan accent...
Scottish.  I officially change my previous line to : "It must be the
Scottish accent" heh.  I think we're in the same situation here also, except
that we're 8million French-speaking people surrounded by 350million
English-speaking people ;-D

I will let Jay answer this... ;-)

Oh my !! Take that mental image out of my head !!! Agh !!    "IT" is really

Wrong again, Francois!!

Half the people here in Toronto don't even speak English!!
As you know, Canada is a multicultural country, and so people come here from
anywhere and everywhere and quite a large number of them don't even bother
to learn the English language properly. Then these same people somehow
manage to get jobs either driving taxis, or in telemarketing! (Apologies to
those that this might offend... but it's the truth!! (In the Toronto area,
anyhow - there are more "minorities" in these fields than there are
English-speaking white-Canadians)

I read in the newspaper a short while ago, that by the year 2000,
white-Canadians will be a minority in Toronto. (Not that that's a bad thing
necessarily... but our immigration policy is a little disturbing).

So when you said (sarcastically) that Quebec is 8 million people surrounded
by 350 million English-speaking people (real # is close to 30 mil total
pop.), you were wrong!!
Cut that number in HALF!! :o))

Just thought I should correct you!!
:o))

This may be an old joke for you folks from the British Isles, but I
heard this one when Mel Gibson was on the David Letterman show promoting
"Braveheart".  Gibson had asked this crusty old Scotsman who was a
technical advisor on the set of "Braveheart", "What do you Scotsmen wear
under their kilts?"  The old man replied, "Your wife's lipstick". Ba da
boom, ba da bing.
