Zipadelli Is A Moron

by John Simmon » Wed, 29 May 2002 19:46:59

On Saturday's race:

"Its frustrating right now," Zipadelli said after
Stewart barely missed a top-five finish in a race
to the line with Jeff Gordon. "Its pretty obvious
that the Fords are the *** race car with the
changes NASCAR has made to them. Its frustrating
because they gave that to them to make them get
there. They didnt work for it."

This is just a case of sour grapes if you ask me.  A Chevy led the VAST
majority of laps (I wonder if they did a post-race inspection on THAT
car), and Kenseth and Martin were always in the top 5.  I believe that
all of the makes made a top-5 showing at some point during the race, and
I seem to remember several folks having crappy pit stops that resulted
in poor track position.

The people that finished in the top 5 drove a smarter race, had better
pit stops, and had more luck than the rest.

The exact reason why Nascar needs to dump the "faux" mfg body shapes and
make the switch to a single car body and use stickers that identify make.
Unfortunately I believe Nascar likes the "control" they get using the
current system.

Singling out the #20 team as whiners is where you lose me.  Hell the biggest
whiner in the history of Nascar was Earnhardt.

I'm so tired of the constant ***ing and whining about the 'advantages' of the
other car.  I want to ask them "If it's so much better, why didn't YOU choose
it?!?"  If the car of choice is Ford, then the others need to get their act
together.  As long as every manufacturer follows the regulations for car
construction, leave them alone.  No, NASCAR changes something to help the
Chevys, then the Ford guys complain.  So then NASCAR throws a bone to Ford,
then Dodge complains.  Stupid - the constant rule changes during the season are
a waste of money and time.
Whatever happened to "race what ya brung"?  Sheesh...

The problem is that NASCAR tinkers with the cars before they ever get on the
track. If NASCAR would give basic dimensions for the cars, and say go build
it and leave it alone from that point, there would be no problem. They need
to go back to following the street car templates with basic car/spoiler
widths and heights and that would fix the problem. If you dont like how your
car is performing, build a better one kind of deal, but it has to match the
street car.

Actually, they pretty much did/are.  A year or two ago when the "Iroc"
debate got heated, it was swept under the rug..........and Nascar did what
they wanted to anyway, with little fanfare/press, which was make virtually
identical bodies.
The Dodge is actually a Taurus variant, not from Dodge at all, i.e.

That's true.  Definately agree anyway; make 'em more stock.  Body, engine,

It's not the 20 *team*, it's Zipadelli. He's whining about shit that
doesn't matter.  Four Fords finish in the top 5 - big deal, a Chevy led
most of the freakin race.  I'm willing to bet that if he Stewarty had
finished 1st and the next nine cars across the line were Fords, we
wouldn't hear a peep out of the little shit.

Yea, it'd be a real hoot watching 170 horsepower, front wheel drive
cars navigate the super speedways at 80mph.
