Hmm, the file should be 320mb.  Did it not all come through Eldred?

I guess it didn't...  If you want, you can upload it again.  Same place.

I won't be able to make it available until Monday, though.  For some reason, my
main FTP server doesn't respond to my remote application...

I deleted the file that was corrupted.  Hadn't copied the full version over
yet, sorry.  It should be up by tonight.

Hey E,  XP includes system file protection and system restore <vbseg>..
Formatting/reinstall is pretty much a thing of the past.

And considering the amount of student XP machines on our network that get
compromised, I wouldn't touch XP with a 10-foot keyboard...

Compared to W98?  Youre kidding Eldred, right?

Its more a matter of numbers of XP machines vs any security risks with the
OS.   XP *includes* a firewall  albeit not the highest security firewall out
their but much more than any W98 box (barring 3rd party software).  It much
more a matter of USER inexperience than any security flaw with XP.  Another
factor is the *ease* with which XP can be *shared* on the network.

Take another shot E :)  youre shootin blanks <g>   Really their isnt one
single reason not to use XP other than cash shortages or hardware/software
compatibility, ie: older games.

If youre in IT then how can you NOT run XP?   I would be scared of an IT guy
with your 'tude about an OS.  Im in IT for nearly 20 yrs and have tried
*every* OS I could lay my hands on just for the experience.

It really makes no difference to me whether you run XP in your lifetime or
not but youre missing out on the best OS MS has ever released to the public
for a bunch of invalid reasons.  That my 2cents matter to you  anyway <g>.

>Compared to W98?  Youre kidding Eldred, right?

Nope.

The firewall causes problems with our registration system.  Students leaving
the admin account without the password allows them to be easily compromised.
Ease of sharing?  I could never get my main win2000 system to see my XP system.

That's the main reason I won't run it at home - incompatibility.

Why would you be scared?  We have a system at the office that has XP.  We *had*
to, because we needed to learn how to help people connect to the network with
it.  That's my GPL epickett5 server...

Invalid to you, maybe.  My experiences with XP have all been bad, or at least
lukewarm.  I've tried it, I've supported it, and honestly haven't seen anything
in it that makes me want to run right out and upgrade...
