started reading the group again as i'm finally replacing my p-200 with a
p3-450. i read a review about f1rs and the reviewer gave it a 9 and said it
was better that gp2. i've seen more gp2 posts here than f1rs. how could it
be gp2's successor if it gets less posts than milli-vanilli???

also, i will be purchasing gpl based on what i've read here. i test drove
the demo on a slow machine, but was still impressed with the virtual***pit
and the physics. but isn't it like driving a 1973 ford station wagon
compared to today's f1 cars? (rhetorical.)

finally, is there a faq for this newsgroup? i've been out of it long enough
that all the acronyms for sim titles used around here are throwing me. if
there's no faq, could someone direct me to a good website that has reviews
for driving sims.

thanks,

Hi SW
IMO F1RS and its successor MGPRS are both pretty hopeless tho' pretty to
look at sometimes. GP2 is still better than either of them. The new one from
Eidos - Official F1 Racing is even worse apparently.
If you like a challenge GPL is the one. The demo doesn't do it justice. The
cars top 200mph on the straight at Spa (old classic 8 mile Spa!) 195 at
Monza.
The tracks are totally fantastic, the cars have no downforce or carbon
brakes so it's fun fun fun.
The online racing is great too if you can find a good connection.
Mike Carver posts an FAQ to this group regularly but i haven't seen one for
a little while.
Hope you enjoy GPL

GPL, compared to the other sims out there, is more like you're driving the F1
car, and the others sims are the ford wagon.  Seriously, the cars in 67 were far
more under the control of their drivers, as opposed to their tire engineers and
aerodynamicists, than today.  It makes the driving experience far richer.
There's real oversteer in these cars, (as I'm sure you will find out shortly)
that needs countersteering to control, a feature sadly lacking in other motor
racing sims.  FTM, If your station wagon weighed next to nothing and had 400 hp,
it would be fun to drive, too.

F1RS *IS* better than GP2. The reason you may see GP2 postings could
be because GP2 followers are more religious than F1RS owners (IMHO).
F1RS2 is also 2 years old.

GPL is the real reason you don't see much about F1RS. Also F1RS-2
is called Monaco GrandPrix Racing 2 (MGPRS2). And there a few
MGPRS2 around.

The FAQs are posted about once a month.
