GPL: Does GEM+ 1965 Season have F3 Basic Trainer avaliable?

by Icer » Wed, 25 Aug 2004 01:17:07

I had GPL set up with 3 drivers for the 1967 Season with names that
describe their use, i.e. G_Patricks_67F1, G_Patricks_67F2,
G_Patricks_67F3. In the player.ini the driver ratings are set to 3 for
F1 (Full F1, 2 for F2(Advanced Trainer), and 1 for F3 (Basic Trainer).
This has always worked fine. I now have GEM+ with the 1965 Season and
cars installed, but not sure if setting the driver rating really does
anything. It DOES say Basic Trainer when I choose the 65F2 driver but
I notice the car is still a 5 speed and seems a bit strong for a
trainer. Just wondering if, for 1965 Season, you really just get the
F1 cars and the modifieds (FV, FD, etc).

Don't really NEED the 65 F2's and F3's, but liked messing with them in
67 Season (especially the F2's) and want to check them out..

Thanks!

Try the other exe's that were created by GEM+2 in your gpl folder.

I did and they are excellent, as is the whole GEM+ program. The
difference in the 67 F3 and the 67 FG is pronounced though. It was
tough to get the Basic Trainer around the track (at a good pace), the
FG cars use the F1  Chassis and F3 engine (which is a ball in and by
itself!) but they stick pretty well.. Its not a problem, just wondered
if anyone had it working the "old way"..

Cheers!

You don't want those other exes since they're created for FD and FG
engine swapped classes.  All you want is the main 65 exe and select
"basic trainer" or "advanced trainer" chassis a bit below the driver
selection drop-down in GEM+2.  Alternatively, you can do exactly the
same thing in-game in the track selection menu (in training mode only
if you do it in-game).

The F2 cars are mostly 6 speeds which is confusing, leading some to
think that they're in F1 cars.  Also, when the top formula is only 1.5
litres, the lower classes will not seem dramatically slower.  You
should be able to check the top speed of the F2 and F3 cars at a track
with a long straight.  I use ***bath for top speed tests, since it's
a super long oval.
