Hi,

GO take a look at the fabulous screenshots of F1 by Ubisoft AKA Starting
Grid. (Saw it at the FPS site "http://www.racesimcentral.net/; Looks like
it's a proper 3-D game with luscious textures. Wonderful pictures of
Jean Alesi's Benetton at Spa with gosh! raised***pit sides, proper
Bene nosecone, sidepods and a low-set low wing. I sure have high hopes
for this!!! Can anyone else add more info?

Cheers,

Stanley

Here is a little info that I found earlier....check the site at the
bottom...

October 27,

It is not definate as to which graphic chipset will be the best for the
sim., if any. It will, however, make us of
rendition!

There will be a car color scheme editor along with a helmet editor
included with sim. Plus, there may be am
optional one later!

They are aiming to have EVERY graphics file editable!

320*640 (panaramic) graphical display will be an option! - There are
many different graphical options included

Don't worry if you haven't got a 3-d video card because a VRAM card will
perform just as good!

Unlike GP2, a P166 will run every graphic option smoothly!

Check out this site...it has basically the same screenshots from the
Visiware site but it also has some extras...

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~salmon/index.htm

Looks good to me....supports Rendition and is Multi-player capable

Um, it does. You're thinking of Formula 1 by Psygnosis. F1/Starting Grid,
on the other hand, may be a true GP2 killer. Check out Visiware.com.

Yep...... it looks like Starting Grid. At the homepage of Ubisoft itself
there was not a single word about this game so I think it will take while
before it is released.
And I will not hold my breath for this game because of the screenshots. The
screenshots don't say a thing about the game because they could also be
screenshots in the game itself.

Anyone who has more info about this game?

The game has been reported to be somewhat lacking in comparison to others

Yup, tasty looking, but eye candys' not everything(right Richard(grin).
Anything that looks that pleasing and has good dynamics will be the
greatest
F1 sim to date. I am actually eager for one.

Its not too hard to delete GP2.

I believe it does. It is F1 by Psygnosis that is without a proper
***pit view (At least on the Playstation).

I think this IS starting grid (ie. visiware are the developers and
Ubisoft, the publisher). The car graphics are certainly reminiscent of
the visiware shots (last update January...). Although the latest info is
that the game will be based on the Pod engine, which have been tested by
`Renualt testers'. I wonder if they mean JC-Boullion and Alex Wurz?
Anyway, I really now nuts about software development, so if they say
they use the Pod engine, does it mean it mean that F1 will have that
same arcade-feel, or is there potential to enhance it for a sim
(hopefully GP2) feel? I sure hope it will improve over GP2. Certainly,
we should be able to see 60fps on rendition and 3Dfx cards. Gosh, Monte
Carlo would certainly look wonderful!

Cheers,

Stanley
