Hey Randy, you can't win. The Open-Course folks are beginning to
sounds like religious zealots with their own mantra. You've
posted a fair, objective review that points out the NFS III is
(i) fun, (ii) has excellent graphics and (iii) has challenging,
varied courses. Your review even digs deep enough into the
simulation quality to point out that the back tires give
auditory feedback but not the fronts. But these folks, who
have never seen the game, are already moaning that it is bad
before they have tried it. Yes, I also preferred the open courses
to the circuits in NFS 1, but not because they were open-courses.
It was only because they had believable, real world scenery and
a nice variety of corners. I have seen some of the Quicktime
movies from NFS 3 and am willing to give it the benefit of the
doubt until I actually try it. In fact, I will probably rush
out and buy it. Perhaps I will even finally buy a playstation
now that there are enough good driving games/sims for it
(Colin McRae Rally, TOCA, NFS3, Gran Tourismo).
Keep bringing us the good reviews. Oh, and you can forget
irony in this newsgroup; it seems the humour is lost on most.
