What is Player Review?
I originally came up with the idea for player review during one of my
game searching sessions. There I was reading all types of reviews from
all the big *** magazines. Next step was to check out the web
sites I normally go to. After all this I finally decided on a game. I
pop off to the local software store(s) (of course looking for the best
price) and bring the game home. Installing with anticipation of
playing a great game, at least that's what most of the reviews
said, I dim all the lights (I like playing my games in the dark) and
embark on what promises to be a superb *** experience. Well let me
just say that the game went back to the store the next day and my
search for a good game continued.
I'm not saying that all the reviews in magazines and on big game web
sites are bad. Lets just say that I believe that revenue from
advertising might sway the reviewers opinion slightly. :) Or in the
case of a truly great game that just does not have the financial
backing to receive the exposure that it deserves. In some cases
there may never even be a review done for the game. This is when I
started relying on the newsgroups more heavily for opinions of games.
I've found more honest and straight
forward (tell it like it is) information in the groups then all the
reviews I've seen in magazines. Don't take this last statement wrong.
Generally the reviews are good though I feel are fluffed up or not
fluffed up enough sometimes. Gamers, who do
not have to worry about stepping on advertisers toes, will hold no
punches in their reviews.
This is what Player Review is. There is no advertising. No one
watching over anyone's shoulder to make sure someone's pride doesn't
get hurt or telling them not to play it up too much as not much
advertising was recieved from them. This is simply a site where us
gamers can tell it like it is. Have you played a game recently that
you just loved and felt that it was the best game ever? Get a review
into this site and have your opinions available for all to see. How
about the one game that you wouldn't even wish upon the person
you hate most in life? Save some gamers some money by letting them see
what you think about it.
Help support this site. Remember, this site will not work if you do
not take an active part in making it work. Please submit a review
while you're here and make this an excellent information site in the
world of computer ***.
