4 years olds are demanding. They steal a lot of your time and attention.

Luckily this 4 year old doesn't steal as much of my sleep as the first few
years. Those were exhausting days and nights. I was glued in front of my
wheel too many hours of the day. It did affect my professional work, as I
showed up at work very tired after only a few hours of sleep, and left early
to play some more.

Everybody wants to provide their kids with the best possible environment. I
have provided this kid with new CPU, more memory, new video card, new wheel,
broadband connection and countless hours of careful attention. And GPL has
responded by putting a smile on my face, and giving me the white knuckles
when doing full GPs online with a lot of other "parents".

Happy birthday!

Jon Andersen,
with love

Yup - and as a bit of nostalgia, here's a ras thread from way back in
1997 (only the first few posts - Google irritatingly runs together
threads with the same title):

OpenGL                                      The most stable
Direct3D                                     The prettiest
Photorealistic cars                       The most beautifully rendered cars
on any sim.
two official patches                      The best supported road racing

First GPL post on r.a.s. (funny to see those 1997 posts going "End of
Papyrus"). :

===========================

Subject: SODA and GRAN PRIX LEGENDS/papyrus
Date: 1997/03/11

Just saw the article/Pictures from SODA OFF ROAD RACING and GRAND PRIX
LEGENDS from Papyrus in the new PC GAMER magazine i  got in the mail
today!
Looks interesting..definately want to see GPL when it comes out!!!
(60's-70's Grand prix classics!!)
only hope it runs as smoothly as ICR2 (nascar2 too choppy on my
system!)

looks great guys!!!

I slapped my copy of GPL across the face after it kept me up all night
complaining about my system. I was secretly filmed on video tape, and
now, like that woman in the States, I've had my copy taken away and
put in foster care, and I could face a three year prison sentence!

Still, it was worth it, the cheeky sod!!

Imagine if it looked like it does today. Not to mention how far hardware has
come since then. I don't know of any boxes around me that would be choppy
with N2.

I thought it was more like it's 8th ?

Oh yeah, that's right.  It was re-born as a Windows game a few years back.
Forgot about that...
