Online Races Too Wild???

by SteveBla » Sun, 18 Apr 1999 04:00:00

For everyone who's been complaining about all the wildness in online GPL races,
I thought I'd share the little blurb below from one of today's "offline" races
at Road Atlanta.  Star Mazdas, btw, are small spec open-wheelers with 170hp
rotarys, slicks, and wings.  Check out the race info at:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

and watch for Sunday's (4/18) race, which will have LMP, WSC, GT1-3, etc. on
CNBC (live) and Speedvision in the states and on Eurosport (who will be
carrying the whole American LeMans series) where available.

Online Races Too Wild???

No, wild is any touring car series in the world. Those guys lean on each other
more than Nascare does.  Example...2 years ago i was watching a German Super
Touring car race (not sure what track).  Anyway the two Audis up and left the
pack (like they usually did) but back in the "traffic jam" that was positions
about 4-12 looked like a demo derby!!!  Cars bouncing off each other, the wall,
taking multiple trips through the "kitty litter", and going across the grass.
The thing that amazed me was it all seemed to be perfectly legal!!!  I mean i
love wacthing Touring Cars (for this reason) but there seem to be no visible
rules when it coes to driving.  Oh and Rallycross...wow...that is a demo derby.
Those guys never seem to be on course.  And when they are theyre trying to run
each other off it!!  I really wish a sim could capture this kind of close
racing (TOCA 2 might...i havent tried even the demo yet).
