Excellent Max Papis interview

Excellent Max Papis interview

I know that this is not quite sim related, though I can sorta make the
twist. . .

In case you haven't seen it, SpeedCenter has an excellent interview with
Max Papis.  He talks about his approach to driving, learning a track,
and some differences between IMSA, F1, and Indycar.  You know some of
the same stuff we have been talking about but in the sim world.  If this
last sentence isn't enough to make this sim related, Max is the
replacement driver for Arciero-Wells and was quoted as saying he spent
time using an IndyCar simulation/game.

Oh, yes the URL for SpeedCenter http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Yes that's a great interview, he goes into some detail about his driving
technique etc. Some of it could be quite useful in GP2 and ICR2 and even Nascar
at the 2 road courses.

I think I'm going to give his technique a try, that one about carrying
a bit more speed into the turns and trying not to use the brakes so
much, in other words not to practice so much late-braking but try and
set up for the turn and carry as much speed through as possible.

Maybe that will shave off a few more .100's off my lap times.

Mad Max has been great fun to watch this season in the WSC/IMSA races,
I'm glad he is getting a chance to run Indycar.

Cheers.

There for a moment I thought you were gonna say, "walk the track". ;-)

Also, Jacques Villenueve said that he uses an "F1 video game" to help
him learn the tracks.. It's obviously GP2. He said "It may sound
childish, but this video game really helps me learn the new tracks.  I
play it before I go to each track so I do know the tracks before I
actually go to them." When asked where he qualifies in the video game he
replies "About 18th, so maybe it isn't too realistic."  What a guy..
