Wheel problem-Any Ideas please...?

P3-650E
64mb ram
Biostar Mobo with VIA chipset.
ATI Rage 32mb card
Direct 7a
Windows 98

Tried attaching a wheel today,MS Precision Pro USB(non FF) comes with 4.0
software.

Plugged wheel into usb port, fired up,Control Panel shows wheel as Not
Connected.

Went to VIA got 4in1 drivers, installed, tried again...same result.

Then went to Microsoft Sidewinder FAQ for Precision Pro.Saw my EXACT
problem,it advises removing all USB from Device Manager then rebooting and
it all gets freshly replaced by Windows.

Did it,went smoothly...but still wheel not seen in Properties.

Any ideas lads...?

Try plugging it in the USB port when the computer is already turned on.....
worked for me.
As far as I know it nor a big "No No" to plug in USB stuff while the power
is on the computer, but you better get a second opinion ;)

you can plug anything anytime with USB, that's the theory.

In fact better buy an act labs wheel but it's probably too late for that,
using MS products I just discovered that my old sidewinder 3Dpro (analog
stick for combat flight) cannot run on 100 Mhz boards, they have a couple of
solutions on MS knowledge base, finishing by "maybe it won't works after all
that we said"...well it doesn't for me.... *** them

Did you also get the USB filter driver? It's not included with the 4in1

I really don't know exacly how it works. I do know that my old fic 503+
board couldn't see my logitech wheel on usb untill I installed it. It's
available on via's page along with the 4in1's available here:
