I bought GP3 yesterday - couldn't actually believe what it was when I
played it, thougt that the shop had made a mistake and gave me the wrong
game or s'thing.

I read some of the posts here over the last week or so but nothing could
prepare me for the pixelated graphics. I run an athlon thunderbird
800mhz with 256mb of ram and I expect games to look and run fast at high
frame rates but this GP3 is an utter nonsense.Lets face it - even at
1200 x 1024 is looks rubbish !

Also, wheres the sense of occasion and realism - I cant hear any other
cars or any other environmental noises. There no sense of importance to
the game. In short - the sound is very poor.

Worst still is the views; total lack of decent behind car views (the
only one available lacks any car and race info so its unusable).

And as for the menu system, its got the ergonomics and intelligibility
of a bucket of pigs' swill.

I could go on but suffice to say that it goes back to the shelves of
computer exchange this week. How the UK may PCGamer game it 95% Ill
never know - I wont be buying that publication again...

Anyway - for what its worth, I reckon F1RS is much better and I got that
free with my Logitech FF !!!

So, what new's? I could write exactly the same thing by only reading the
posts here, and I haven't even got GP3 yet.

they must've sold you the wrong game I'm sure. No kidding. That *must* be
the case, because my GP3 has great, smooth graphics, terrific sound and and
a fantastic***pit view which eliminates the need for any kind of arcade
view.

If that's not the case then I don't get it. How can anyone say these
graphics are rubbish ?!? I prefer the realistic non-filtered textures of GP3
anytime.

You need to get out more - real life isn't pixellated!

It's not an overfiltered blur either...

Don't take this as a general criticism but what would you want a behind-car
view for?

You don't own a Voodoo 2 do you?  They filter everything to death, but on
just about every other video card filtering improves the visual quality.  No
one has ever said Quake 3 looks over-filtered.  Filtering only produces
blurry results if you use small textures stretched over large polygons.

The behind car view is extremely useful in replays for the analyzing of
driving technique/incidents.

Oh, wait. Nevermind.

No, I don't own a Voodoo 2.

Of course filtering improves visual quality. However, you've hit the nail on
the head - 'filtering only produces blurry results if you use small textures
stretched over large polygons'.

Formula 1 circuits contain a lot of detail - especially the likes of Monaco.
Can you swap textures in and out of video memory during the course of a lap
without affecting the frame rates? You need to keep the majority, if not
all, of the textures in the video card memory for the whole of the race.
That's a large texture memory requirement, unless you start compressing
textures / reducing the quality.
