Seems like you need to change your qualif setup :) (Or go out when there's
less traffic).
Why NON-qualifying laps? A fastest non-qualif lap is meaningless since
you can go into the pits a few laps from the end of the race and put on
some D tyres. What you want is
- fastest qualifying lap
- fastest average lap (for race)
On auto gears, I found that the car is slower (program gives you a penalty)
for using auto anything. I also find it easier to control the car (especially
with traction control off) if I have gear control. High revs make the tyres
slip and so I'll stay in the higher gear to avoid this. At 15 frames/sec
animation I need all the assistance I can get :)
I dont know what my best race lap time is (but given the above comments I
made it's not worth recalling). For qualifying I know I did an 11.5, but I'd
have to check my notes at home. One thing I like about Adelaide is that the
lap is short, so when qualifying you get quite a few laps out of the tyres (
Portugal is also a short lap, but very *** the *** ).
