This sim suddenly started acting really strange.

The game will not work anymore and I haven't done anything to alter it or my
system.

I get into the race screen. Everything is fine until I start to drive..

then the entire system reboots.

Thinking my video driver is the problem, I change renderer to "software"
instead of D3d7.

I go into race screen and..reboots.

So, I reinstall the video driver, go back to race screen and. reboots.

I change video driver to older version of same type... reboots.

I completely uninstall GPL and reinstall with fresh GPL, add the patches.
reboots.

All updates have been added (1.2.0.1) rolled back drivers, insured indexing
was on and still.. reboots.

System is XP Pro sp1 all updated and all my other Papyrus Titles and EA
titles are working normally.

Video is Sapphire Radeon 8500LE with the 7.97_2KXP, then 7.94_2KXP, and when
that didn't work...the MS default drivers.

I'm at my wits end here. L

Have you done a full system rollback?  (not just the drivers)

Cliff, thanks for brainstorm.
I started thinking what changes I had made since I played GPL last...and it
was the onboard audio setup.
You know how XP gives you the speaker setup options in "Sounds and Audio
Devices?"
I had mine set to a 5.1 audio setup ..... when I only have 4 speakers and a
subwoofer.
So I changed to Quadraphonic speakers and bingo....GPL works again!!
:^))))))
Man, I can't believe how life can change without GPL...there is no
life...lol
It made me grumpy all day. whew, order is restored in the world once again..
;-)
I think there should be counselling for GPL withdrawal...

I know the feeling. <g>

Don't feel bad about yourself, though. I just spent 6 hours troubleshooting
a guy only to realise he was not able to tell the difference between being
disconnected from a server and the game crashing due to an ill-fated
graphics add-on.
