Teleporting cars in ICR2

by JG_ » Wed, 16 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I have seen replays of cars breaking into the centre of road courses,
and pinging about, usually getting destroyed.

But has anyone ever seen an AI car simply teleport from one part of
the track to another?? I have a rpy from Mid Ohio, I spin an AI in T1,
next thing I know there's a lot of AI braking up towards T2. Why? The
dude I spun has just teleported up there. I thought this only happens
on TEN. <g>

Anyone have any examples of this or want mine made available?

Thanks,

Jon Guest.

I had. A replay of something similar at the Vancouver track. But this was no AI car this
was me! I came up towards the stadium and grazed the left wall and then I got kinda
teleported to the other side of the track. I spun right through the stadium and
everything. Pretty weird huh? I used to have this replay but couldn't find it anymore.

Simracers,

Yes! Just a few days ago in practice I had a CC car making an incredible
lap record at Vancouver: 21.XXX seconds! (sorry, don't remember exact
value). On the replay it turned out that it came to a stop after T1. After
waiting for about 5 seconds it warped back to the main straight and
continued the race.

(BTW this was ICR2/Mac which seems to share all bugs from the PC version 8^))

I too have seen this (more often than most, I suppose<g>)...I think I
set the all-time lap-record at Australia with a :58.xxx...Warpped from
the back-set of chicanes and through the pits.  However, because I also
blew all the tires, that pretty much ended that session.  =)

Cheers!

Marc

Once at Michigan I T-boned an invisible wall in the MIDDLE (just going into the
dogleg) of the track. My car immediately "exploded" (probably sending my wrent
body hurling through a hot dog stand just past the grandstands). I didn't get a
replay of it, but my brother does have one of a similar incident (at Vancouver I
think) In which he(and what was left of his car) ended up in Montana (or right
next to it anyway <g>)

At least this last incident is due to the infamous "Hand of God" (HOG)
bug that was present in almost all Papy sims. All of a sudden, some
force takes you and teleports you someplace. The last time this
happened to me, I ended up between the barriers on the lawn that
seperates the pits from the track...

I guess so.
I noticed in both ICR1 and Nascar1 that if you brush the last segment of the pitwall the
car tends to shoot off spinning in great velocity. Some sort of impact calculation going
bezerk i guess. Strange that the dudes at papayrus don't fix these bugs in between games.
Same goes for the very annoying "car-melding" bug. I haven't yet seen a papyrus game with
strictly solid cars that can't merge with one and other, mostly annoying IMO.

Btw, is it just me or is it impossible to get any wheelspin (to spin around and make
donuts) in ICR2?
