Check again, SPEED covers the WRC events every weekend they have one.  OLN Outdoor living network
seems to be covering the SCCA Pro Rally series here in the states..

Go to a mall and ask random people what WRC stands for.  Ask them if
they know the names of Tommy Makkinen, Richard Burns, Colin Mcrae(you might
get a few youngsters who know this one if you ask it outside a software
store).  Considering that Rallye in the US is about as popular as lawnmower
racing, you should be standing up and proclaiming that Speed's coverage of
Rallye racing is indeed the Golden Era.
I have been a very vocal complainer of the 'nascar channel' in the
past, I worried that the focus on Nascar would dilute the other racing
coverage.  But so far, we are still getting far more road racing/rallying
coverage than any other time in US television.  Sure it would be great to
have more extended coverage for many series, but compared to the snippets
and highlights we had in the past, these past two years on Speed have been
far and away more complete and timely than any other.
THAT is what kind of ***that is.  :)

I know, I'm on the right side of the pond, too. (That's right as opposed to
left, not right as opposed to wrong ;-).

'Racing' over there seems to mean 5 lead changes per lap. There's an outcry
if the guy on pole actually wins the race. That's why they like roundabouts
and don't like F1... <g>

I don't call them crapwagons either.  I'm as pissed off about the split as most
people here.  But it's american open-wheel racing, it's pretty damn exciting,
and I enjoy watching it.
I'm an open-wheel fan, which means I'll watch Champ Cars, IRL, F1, F3000,
Barber Dodge series, etc...  And given the opportunity, I'd JUMP at a chance
for a seat in any of those series.

So would I, definitely, but even if I was in the IRL I'd probably still call
them crapwagons <g>. It has become a habit that I just can't shake ;-)
