I tried unplugging the mouse and it fixes the "mouse X" problem but I still
can't use the mouse for steering (when I plug it back in after starting CR I
get the same Mouse X/left steering only problem again). Deleting the
controls.cfg and calib.val files makes the controls default to the number pad
keys, but again I still can't use the mouse. I don't have N2/99 so I can't try
those controls.cfg and calib.val files. I even tried installing CR on another
system but I get the same problems.
Sierra support said not to move the mouse while setting the controls, but even
taking the ball out of the mouse and setting it on the floor before rebooting
still causes mouse X to be automatically selected.
Maybe I'll have to trade my laptop in for a desktop and get a joystick (or a
wheel and pedals!!!!). But then I'd have to get GPL and I wouldn't get
anything else done. :)
Thanks to all that replied.
