Which details to remove first?

I have to agree with everything that's been said, especially about the
mirror detail. I couldn't imagine what good it would do at first, since they
look exactly the same when you're on the track alone. Passing by the pits in
practice, though, I noticed that the frame rate stayed nicely pegged at 36
fps, and the detail progressively disappeared out of the mirrors. It makes
sense when you think about it; those two tiny viewports are just as
expensive to render as the front view, unless you turn down the details; I
have it set to cars and track. Most of the time, even with cars in front and
back, the trees and roadside eye candy are rendered fully. When things start
bogging down, it kills the unnecessary detail. What an absolutely marvelous
graphics engine!

Michael.
