I read all the posts on this, but for $29, I had to buy it. I first put
in on my P2 450 with a voodoo2, and it was crap. However, I had ordered
a new box, a P3 with a voodoo3 (just to keep the numbers matching, heh)
almost exclusively for Need for speed 5...well, you could tell by my
screen name I am a porsche fanatic, so I was looking forward to F12K on
this box.

I must say I really don't know what to think. A bit like Dr practice
(the nice guy) and Mr Race (the mosnter). It's prettier, it's faster
than on my old P2... The driving model made me feel instantly
comfortable, I kept the throttle help though, but otherwise your solid
SCGT style model well ported to F1. Life was good. I discovered
that "over the helmet" view, not strictly speaking realistic but IMHO
excellent, just like the on board cameras we see on TV so in my eyes
pretty realistic anyway since I have never sat in an F1 but have seen
lots of laps from that camera view.

Then I started racing... Oh my... I don't know what it is, I cannot
finish a race. Maybe it's missing frames, which***up my perception,
but the AI, whoo.... Those guys don't drive right, at least not like
me.. I'll pass on the pile-ups, I've seen them in F1, but my beef is
with their use of the pedals...they seem to brake was too soon and
reaccelerate way too fast. Because of this, I am always barely avoiding
ramming the guy in front, then getting rammed from behind exiting the
corner. I don't think it's driving style, it might be setups though...
I tried altering my style, to even more in slow, out fast, but c'mon,
it's a formula one, you're supposed to brake hard, and anyway this did
not improve my exit speed... tried a few things, a few downloads, but
it's wacky. I can't race like that. I really like that game by myself,
practicing, lapping faster than everyone else at 100% realism, but I
stand no chance in a race (even dow to 85%...I am faster but they ram
me on the first turn exit). Gotta be frame rate and loss of visual
perception ;-)

Oh well, it was only $29.. help ?
\Greg.

(P3 600, Voodoo3 3000).

Just be glad the Geoff Crammond is putting soooo much effort into the AI in
GP3

Actually I thought it was me, who did not know how to drive this baby, but I
have exacly the same issues about the races. I have been driving MGPR2 since
it came out, and there I don't have these problems with other drivers. This
game is prettier, but the "feel" is not so good as in MGPR2.

I allso have troubble with the graphics. I'm running an Athlon 700Mhz and a

driving a race to keep up the framerate.

You can do better than that, EA!!!
