Guillemot wheel pulling right

by Simon Brow » Mon, 23 Apr 2001 04:43:50

Hi,

Did anyone ever find a solution to the Guillemot Ferrari pull-right problem?
I've had the wheel for over a year but it's been in it's box most of the
time.  Now I discover it's not such a bad wheel afterall, start using it,
and within a month of light use it seems to have developed a fault.

What happens is that after a few minutes of racing in GPL, the FF will go
limp.  When the wheel is moved right of centre it will keep going on it's
own, pulling right.  When centered it stays centered though.  This happens
race after race, so it's not car damage.

If anyone has a solution, or an idea why this is happening, the help would
be appreciated.  Is the wheel just broken?
Thanks,
Simon.

Found a possible solution thanks to Thom_j and www.slottweak.com .  A post
on the forum there suggested turning 'Spring Gain' to zero, and the problem
seems to be gone.  Won't know for sure until after an extended period of use
though.

Just posting that in case anyone else has/gets the same problem.

Great Simon,
I hope it works for you Simon as I really like both [yes both] of my
Guillemot aka Thrustmaster FF Ferrari Race Wheels.. I have never
had any "problems" with service or parts from Guillemot once they
took Thrustmaster over. I never had any problems w/Thrustmaster
before they were bought' out & I have use Thrustmaster for years!
Good Luck Thom_j.

Just had three hours solid racing on Vroc, so I guess it's fixed :)

Believe me... its not fixed ;)
I have had the same thing happening for a year, sometimes after 3 minutes of
racing, sometimes after 3 days. I tried just about every FF setting known to
man, but the problem allways came back just in the middle of some important
online race :(

The real problemsolver was to switch to the serial port instead of USB.

If you already do use the serial port... well then maybe you are right and
it really is fixed ;)

Ok, thanks for that, I'll keep it in mind if the problem reoccurs.  I'm
using USB at the moment, and I don't have a free serial port.  I can always
buy a PS2 mouse to free one up though.  I'll just see how it goes.

Well I only use USB.. I'd never use serial again as it is too slow..
I'm confused on your problem? Have you called the 800# tech
support yet and ask them? If you ask for ElaSandro he is pretty
good with the Guillemot/Thrustmaster FF Ferrari Race Wheels
and FF joysticks.. Just a thought!!
Good luck Thom_j.
