These guys are nuts....They have another project where they put a 1100cc
Suzuki GSXR  engine on a kart cassis
Talk about a power/weight ratio ;-).

Check out the video at http://foto.renn.tv/web/videos/gixxerkart_video.wmv

http://www.schoolboost.com/4Mark/joerund-van.avi this is also worth a
laugh!
Driven by the great Joerund Seim, one of the fastest bikers on the ring, who
sadly died at Brunchenn in 2002 to the absolute dismay of anyone who met
him, or watched him bike videos.

Search yahoo for "GT3 7:45 Nurburgring" a nice lap by a ringer called
Anders, fast smooth faster than the crappy RUF video, proper lines (very
good), smooth, clean and commited round the whole corner, unlike the RUF
driver!

I had some fun at the ring last September in an AVIS hire car, only a 10m30s
but then only 120HP Diesel Megane ;o)

Think Andi Wilke enjoyed himself in his Opel 1.1 Corsa :o) I seem to
remember him leaving 2mins before me on our first laps and I nailed him just
before Brunchenn ;O)

***y great day, half the hire car tyres gone in 7laps, few good moments on
the curbs etc, perfect weather, quiet monday.

I shall be heading back this summer! you know you can store your Dedicated
Ring Toys at Ring Racing for 40euro a month ;O)))))

No problem, Andre - glad to help...<g>
Maybe ONE of these years I'll be able to afford to go to Germany and see the
track.  Hopefully before I get too old to DRIVE on it..

You're welcome to stay here in Europe Eldred.  I'm sure you'll have fans
everywhere who'd let you stay the night.  (In return, allow me to feel
mighty jealous after seeing the photos of you burning *** IRL around
Laguna Seca...)

I've driven the Ring once, but make no mistake - driving it is
dangerous, and many hobby racers have already been killed there. If you
drive it fast, it's just as dangerous as in races of the past - no track
marshalls, no ambulances, etc.  If we put crosses along the track where
anyone was killed in driving it fast, like Monza, the place would
literally be one big graveyard.

(One of the best Net movies I've ever seen about the Ring, beside
Ringmasters, was the 'GPL vs GT3' movie BTW - where in the upper half
you see GPL's Lotus and in the lower half, a 400 bhp GT3, both from the
***pit. Apart from the lack of trees in the GPL version, the
similarities are uncanny.)

Some interesting links (in German) here:

<http://www.944-fans.de/Nordschleife/vorsicht/vorsicht.htm>

and here are the professional drivers that risked too much:

<http://www.pro-steilstrecke.de/tragoedienhaupt_.htm>

The weirdest case is that of Erwin Bauer (1985, Ferrari 250 TR) who
didn't see the checkered flag and then crashed fatally AFTER
finishing the race...
