by Tony Gaylor » Fri, 12 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Well, I thought I would post this here since I'm already
here so......... Anyone out there running Netscape 4.04beta? Do you have
an impossible time getting on to the site (Unofficial F1 site)because of
an error that says something simular to "Javascript error in Java40.jar.
Well after I get this message I click OK and every single time I get a
"system performed an illegal operation" then shuts down? Can anyone help
me with this?
Next post I promiss to keep it relavent ;)

Thank you,
Tony Gaylord

Hi Tony,

Try the Netscape newsgroup at:

    secnews.netscape.com

You should be able to locate a solution there.  =)

Tony,

Try turning off the Java in Netscape. For some reason, when I access the site, I also get a JAVA problem, though MSIE just crashes Explorer. Most of the other sites are fine..

Must be the class file on the site doing this!!!

take care

Not even the most recent version of Netscape Communicator (4.04) fully supports the new JDK 1.1. I found this out by testing demo applets from Sun Microsystems. The v1.0.2 applets
ran fine. After further research I found that you can upgrade Netscape to support v1.1 by downloading the files from Netscapes web developers page. You can use the SmartUpdate
download to automatically install the upgrade. Reboot the computer and you're all set.

Hope this helps,
Tom Marshall
