I like the Ferrari, even thought the Lotus is a little quicker, EXCEPT that
it makes a irritating rhythmic noise when up to speed on long straights
...... it drives me nuts!  Anyone know which wave file is responsible for
that hideous noise?

What you're hearing is the ferrari.wav engine-sound file looping.  The Lotus
does it too, and perhaps others.  You don't notice it when the sound's being
modulated with increasing rpms, but maxed out, you do hear it.  It's due to a
slight mismatch in the sound at the beginning and end of the wave file.  I've
fooled with the sound files some, and have yet to settle on any worthy of
distribution.

 Larry,
I've got to tell you, when I first read the header to your post I just
cracked up. I wondered if your wife was complaining because you spend all your
time with the Ferrari, rather than with her <ggg.> That would not be that
strange as I have received similar complaints from the female unit (LOL.) Now I
see it's a sound question, and therefore suitable for readers of all ages.
Thanks again, that's just about the biggest belly laugh I've had in a month!
All the best, Mike

Well, when I recently re-watched the movie Grand Prix, I noticed during
the in car camera shots that there was this irritating rhythmic noise
when the cars where riding at the limit.  Especially noticable at Monza.
While many people are complaining about the sound, I think for the Lotus
it sounds about right.  My big problem is with the Coventry, the sound
just seems to drift from right to left for no damn good reason, drives
me crazy and I can't concentrate on the sound of my engine.

Michael. If you have a 3D sound card you may want to turn off the
processing. They work off of normal audio artifacts that are purposefully
recorded with the sounds. Since GPL wasn't designed to work with that type
of computer audio garbage, I'm thinking no one at Sierra auditioned the
program material through a decoding device.

anyone else to complete a lap."
