SCGT: Crash on track load & missing pitboxes

by jame » Wed, 29 Aug 2001 05:51:05

I've encountered some strange problems in SCGT.  I patched my SCGT v.1.55m
with the Sim Project Visual Damage, the TC Patch and added a few cars.  Then
I enabled the cheats.

Now I am getting some strange problems:

-the game crashes when loading a track such as Hockenheim or Road Atlanta
-on some tracks once the track loads all the cars are dumped in the same
spot on the start finish line and its a free for all.
-at Donington half the field starts from the pits (including the player) and
half on the grid
-at Sebring (and Sebring Oktoberfest) when the player enters the pit to fuel
up, repair damage, etc. the car automatically drives through the pit without
stopping and dumps the car at the end of the pitlane with no new fuel or
repaired damage

Anyone got any ideas what going wrong?

Also, I am trying to find some new GT3 cars.  I've found the PTG and
Schnitzer BMWs and a few extra 911 RSRs, but anyone got any others - perhaps
a Marcos or a Ferrari 360, TVR Tuscan R or a GT3 Viper (all these race in
the British GT Championship at GTO level).

Are there any add-on tracks for SCGT?

In regards to your 2nd and 3rd questions are you using more than 15
opponents?  Some patches allow this, but it doesn't really work on all
tracks.  Try 15 or fewer opponents and see if you still have the
problem.

Perhaps this is the cause of all my problems.  I am using more than 15
cars - the maximum I can in fact (it makes great racing at Sebring, although
its chaos into the first corner when they all take each other out.

Perhaps the game crashes at some of the circuits 'cos it can't cope with the
extra cars and so bombs.  Ditto for the car dump 'cos it can't pit them.
Perhaps my pitbox isn't there 'cos of the extra cars.

I'll have a play and see if this cures the problems.

I think that is your problem.  Most of the original tracks and some of the
newer one can only handle 16 cars.  There used to be a track site that
listed what each track could accomodate.  Dig around, you might find it
somewhere.  Hopefully when someone releases a new track they also include in
the readme.txt just how many cars can safely be run on that track.
