Joystick Utility - Combining 2 controllers

by Ashley McConnel » Sun, 15 Jul 2001 00:23:32

Hi Folks,

I seem to recall someone talking about a utility that would take 2
controllers inputs and combine them into a single logical controller.

This is what I want to do:-

- I have a Logi FF and a MSFF (and perhaps a CH Racing System soon)
- I like the LWFF wheel, but I don't like the pedals
- I would like to take the MSFF pedals (or the CH if I like em!) input from
the GAME's port. and the LWFF x-axis (steering) and use them in one
controller.

Anyone have any ideas, I would like to keep the wheels in tact if possible

All the best,
Ash

Hello,

I'd be pretty interested in this too.  If anyone can find this and it
is viable, please forward me the details.  I will be sure to fire off
an ACT LABS T-Shirt if the info is useful.

Are you looking for something like the Virtual Joystick utility that came
with the PDPI L4 cards?

I have the LWFF and a Thrustmaster Nascar Pro wheel and pedals connected to
my computer. The LWFF connected via USB and the Nascar Pro via the gameport.
I use the LWFF wheel and Nascar Pro pedals in GPL and Nascar. No special
software needed as these games see all the axis in their calibration
screens.
Sid.

Raymond (and anyone else who is interested),

I think Joyregs from http://home.att.net/~stickworks/ will do the trick.  I
am about to download it and try it!

Otherwise these is a util called "virtual stick" that comes with the PDPI
card that might be available somewhere.

See the thread :-

Couldnt it be done by a custom driver?

Hope this helps,
Ash

BTW, Raymond bring the Act-labs wheels to UK - I WANT ONE! :) But software
first has a monopoly at the minute and were very vague about the whole
clutch thing when i asked.

Joystick Utility - Combining 2 controllers

I'm afraid Stickworks didnt quite do the trick.  It only allows a new
Joystick type to be defined that can be used for throttle / brakes (or
rudders), it doesnt combine them.

I have got it to work in GPL as it supports multiple devices, but it would
be better if they could be combined in order to make it appear like a single
device - therefore compatible with any game :)

I'll have another look around the net for any cunning plans ;)

All the best,
Ash

Raymond,
Do I understand right:
You are trying to wire your MSFF pedals to your LWFF?
Hmmmm.... ;-)

I think its more a case of combining the new pedals (inc. clutch) with any
"old" wheel :) - which I would like to do sometime in the future :)

All the best,
Ash
