I just found a repackaged AMA Superbike at Wal Mart... :)  I was looking
for
Easter cards and boom there it was...hehe.  The jewel box only title is now
packaged
by Value Soft($9 us).  It has the last version of AMA that was released
v1.5.  There is a manual but I haven't looked at it yet...I'm guessing it's
pdf format.
BUT WHAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT ARE...
the Tracks...these are simply the BEST re-creations of American racing
courses that
I have seen.  Road America...Mid Ohio...are awesome...even Road Atlanta
which has a
fairly modern competitor in the SCGT version of Road Atlanta and the SCGT
effort pales in comparison.  THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOME WAY TO PORT THESE
BABIES
over to the CART Heat patch or GPL or other sims...
Track meisters!!! You need to look at the file format and figure out a
way...

Oh hehe another that has seen the light :)    I've been stating that since
the beta release of AMA SBK.  Ignoring every problem it might have, the 3d
modeling game engine is incredible.  It shouldn't be held up only because
the title wasn't successful.  The tracks are the best you can have in the
industry.  Motorsims should sell their 3d modeling of those tracks to other
simracing developers.

If you want to see some incredible eye candy with shadows and accurate track
layouts, check out EAs SBK 2001.  This is by far the best and most realistic
I've seen. One thing about the sim though, you should not be able to ride as
fast on the grass as you are able to.  I'd swear it was hard packed putting
green.

I've heard teh SBK 2001 tracks were good... But the big allure of AMA is
the
AMERICAN tracks that either aren't represented in other sims or are
HOPELESSLY
out of date.  The old ICR2 tracks not only are inaccurate, or up to date,
but their
graphic detail is  woefully antiquated.
Granted there are still many of the newer CART tracks not represented in
AMA either,
but the presence of Laguna, Mid Ohio, & Road America would really flesh out
the
CArt Heat patch and Cart 2000.  Dangit...they 'should' be used somehow..

There is a difference here.  SBK 2001 is more of a "eye-candy" realism.  AMA
SBK is completely different. The tracks are open, they are unique.  They are
modeled as you would expect, not a simple wall-grass-track-grass-wall
realism.  Of course, in that aspect SBK 2001 does it incredibly well, but
AMA SBK really has more fully realistic tracks.
