clients to a host over the lan)
Have to weigh down the look left & right keys though :-)
All I need now is sound when playing multiplayer (W98 & Audigy) and multiple
controllers!

Thanks for grate racing last night Tony!
3 Screens sounds very useful. At one occasion I think we both left the track
on opposite sides, just to make sure we didn't hit each other. :)
It's very difficult to know for sure where the other cars are. The dead
angles are much larger than in GPL aren't they? I never use the look
left/right in GPL because I totally loose the sense of direction for a short
time. LFS doesn't demand the same level of concentration so maybe I should
start using them. And start saving for 2 more PC's... :)

Of course making 3 connections to a server may not go down too well!
Hosting would be ok though.
What would be ideal is for a master PC to receive the info and relay it to the
other two locally connected PCs. As you are viewing from the same car I would
imagine all three are using the same data transmitted from the server.
In fact I am not sure how LFS relays - it talks of contacting the other clients.
Maybe it can do this - anyone know???
Tony
Maybe each client receives positional information from all the clients
directly? I've seen a message like "host does not allow direct connection,
connected to nn" nn being one of the clients. That could mean that nn has to
relay some "housekeeping" packets like chat and stuff, not necessarily
positional info on all cars. I also got a message in the middle of a race
last night like "packets for nn will now be transmitted via host". Just as
if LFS had just found out that the direct route was suddenly getting slow or
something.
Looks like they do all kind of smart things to deal with varying quality on
the internet.
Better bring out your packet sniffer if you want to find out! :)
If the developers has not already thought of this 3 screen setup with 2
spectators, I'm sure they will implement it in a manner that doesn't draw
additional bandwidth and so the 2 spectators can be hidden.
Jone.
Have you noticed the max/min options in the multiplayer screen? The
help says that with the min selection the client will only connect to
the host (or something like that) to save bandwidth on slow
connections (like modems, which is what I use =)
