Sat.
3pm est Talladega 15% (29 laps) NO yellows practice race
10 minute practice before qualifying

After practice race ends, practice for main race begins

4:30 pm est qualifying begins for main race
Talladega
40%
Yellows on

We also have some new guidelines for racing. Thanks to Ed for putting this
together.

Chatting:
---------

Every driver must have in-car chat enabled as this is the only means of
communications we have on track.

- Chatting during practice, warm-up and yellows is permitted.
- Chatting during the ENTIRE qualifying session IS NOT PERMITTED AT ALL!
(When does the qual-session end?: When the status read SESSION COMPLETED and
not a damn second earlier!)
- Chatting (as in un-important "chit-chat") during the last ("no-lights")
pace lap is prohibited.

Race now - talk later:
----------------------
When/if an accident occurs please do not start putting blame on others or
require explanations or excuses of others. During a race we race - whining
and blame can be saved for later - RAS will probably be thrilled to hear
about it.

Starts/restarts:
----------------
Double file restarts allow those a lap down an *opportunity* to make up a
lap. Overaggressive driving that leads to taking the leaders out or
purposely driving them high up the track will not be tolerated.

As a general rule - you are not allowed to pass the car in front until the
backstretch.
On a restart, you MUST hold your lane (either high or low) if a car is above
or below you. Do not pass/switch lanes until you reach the backstretch.  If
you know the car in front of you is damaged, looses a gear or spins, you may
pass - provided it is safe to switch lanes.

Drivers who are off pace due to damage or engine problems are encouraged to
notify others and, give way - if required.

Do not jump the start/restart. When the green flag drops, everybody
(especially the leader) should be doing the pace speed, and you should not
begin accelerating UNTIL the green flag comes out. Jumping the start is
considered unsportsman-like and dangerous.

Yellows:
--------
When a yellow flies - the racing stops. There shall be no racing back to the
line or fighting for positions.
If two cars are fighting side-by-side, the car who was leading upon
completion of the last lap has a right of way and the other driver should
yield first.

As the yellow flies drivers should slow (gently) down to "a safe pace" and
move up high, so to allow lapped drivers a chance to get their laps back.
Never stop (or slow to "a crawl") in order to give anyone a lap or position
back.

One must understand that when cautions occur - there is a great chance that
somewhere around the track - there's a car stranded, so be prepared to take
avoiding action at anytime if needed. When/if you see an accident evolving -
**slow** down! There's a high chance that the car will bounce off the wall
and into your path of travel - so be prepared to avoid it.

If there's 5 laps to go or less, racing back to the line *is* allowed and
expected.

The Pace-car:
-------------
When you cross the line after a yellow - don't slam the brakes....  slow
*gently* down towards pace-speed and follow (staggered!) the car in-front to
the end of the pace-line. If you're unable to safely slow down in time - do
pass the pacecar and wait for him on the backstretch.

One last reminder:
Papyrus has removed the collision-detection from the pace-car so you can
drive into or thru it without and risk of wrecking. Meaning if you're on
collission-course with the pace car - don't move or make any sudden
movements (like slamming the brakes) - just drive thru it.

Behind the pace-car:
--------------------
Your goal during pace laps and cautions should be to be 0.5 to 1 second
behind the car in front of you.
Leave no less than .3 seconds and no more than 1.5 seconds.  For double &
single file starts and restarts, stagger until the final straightaway before
a restart then tighten up. As a general guideline, all cars positioned as an
ODD number should place themselves to the left or towards the bottom of the
track, (i.e. if your in position 1, 3, 5 etc.) All cars positioned as an
EVEN number should place themselves to the right or towards the top of the
track, (i.e. if your in position 2, 4, 6 etc.) If you are following a lap
car that is running low on the track you should be up high. If he's running
high you should be low.
Chatting during the last ("no-lights") pace lap is prohibited.

2 self-spins and you park it:
-----------------------------
Anyone that causes a self initiated spin, that brings out a yellow flag, two
times in 1 event will be required to park their car for the night. A
self-initiated spin is defined as a spin caused by yourself without any
contact from another driver, which results in a yellow flag. Failure to park
the car after two self spins and we'll kick you off the server.

This one confuses me.  Does this mean getting laps back is automatic now ?

"As the yellow flies drivers should slow (gently) down to "a safe pace" and
move up high, so to allow lapped drivers a chance to get their laps back.
Never stop (or slow to "a crawl") in order to give anyone a lap or position
back."

And this one is sure to generate a heated discussion:

"2 self-spins and you park it:

Are we not now back where we started?

At this point Larry there really isnt a safe way to automatically give/get
laps back.  If the lead lap cars slow to a safe speed and stay in the high
groove then the lappers should technically be able to get a lap back.  If
youre way back then you may not get a lap back due to circumstances.  Maybe
we'll get one more patch from papy then this would be a mute point.

The 2 self spin rule shouldn't really have any effect on us for the most
part.  Its more of a threat so guys put in some practice before the actual
race.  We dont have any single guy in charge of monitoring this its up to
the guy doing the spinning to show respect and bow out.
