OT: DRIVER - better engine sounds and appropriate speed

1)
Annoyed by Drivers engine sounds I tried some different wav.files for
incar.wav and found out, that the Rally Champ... Demo wavs are working quite
good in Driver.
I liked ENGVAUX.WAV and ENGSEAT.WAV, the latter is the one I currently use
in Driver, even if it is the one I hate in RC2000...

These sounds are so decent, you won't hear them during rainy missions, so I
had to reduce the volume of the rainsound-file...

Does anyone know even better sound files for Driver?

2)
How fast can I go, when a police car is nearby?
Today I could go up to 60 mph, when a police car was on the opposite side of
the street, using that speed control button.
Until then, I always slowed down to about 35 mph, because I thought
something like that would be the speed limit...
How fast may you go in american cities and how fast in Drivers cities?

TIA
Zolli

In reality, you would be well advised not to go faster than 35mph in
downtown NY. In driver, however, you may go 60 mph or below, and the
cop cars won't notice. You can also make right turns from the left
lane and ignore stop signs just in front of a cop - again, I would not
suggest this kind of behavior in real life. ;)

And now a secret message in a ***y furrin' language:

Andererseits gibt's in Amiland die strike Unterscheidung zwischen
"innerorts", "Landstrasse" und "Autobahn" mit festen Limits nicht. Ich
war ein Jahr in Maryland und da war es so, dass das speed limit fuer
jede Strasse gesondert angegeben war. Es kann schon mal passieren,
dass man auf einer Strasse, die hier als Ortsdurchfahrt auf 50km/h
beschraenkt waere, 55mph fahren darf. Dummerweise galt das gleiche
Limit auch fuer die Interstates...

Driver spielt aber in den 70ern. Wie es damals mit den Gesetzen aussah
weiss ich nicht.

In case any of you don't know about it, there is a site on the internet
which allows translation of pasted text or whole URLs.  It does
German>English among its many permutations.  Here's the URL:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

I pasted the above into it and this is what it regurgitated:

On the other hand gibt's in Amiland the strike distinction between " inside
place ", " highway " and " motorway " with fixed limit not. I was one year
there in Maryland and was it like that that the speed limit for each road
was separately indicated. It can occur already times that one may drive
55mph on a road, which would be limited to 50km/h as local through traffic
here. Stupid way applied the same limit also to the Interstates...
Driver plays however into the 70ern. Like it with the laws at that time I
did not look white.

I thought this 'translation' might be amusing to both English and German
speaking persons.

What color did you look, Wolfgang?

:o)
