My choices are: XPHome/WinME/Win98

The sims I play are Nascar2003/F12002/GPL with a Logitech Formula Force
wheel.

Thanks for your input.

Equipment specs will be a large determining factor.  If you have a relatively fast cpu, lots of
memory, and all your hardware is XP compatible, XP is the the best to use.

On my system NR2003 and F1 2002 run better in XP than they ever did in
Win9x, but GPL has a sound bug.  I worked around it by resampling the sounds
but I still have to restart the game occasionally due to sound errors.  This
is with an SB Live and has been reported by many other people too.  IIRC it
works fine with Audigy.

Definetly XP. You won't regret it. You won't believe how much better and
more stable it is than 98. I have been running XP Pro for a year and have
not experienced even 1 BSOD.

Windows XP. No question.

Assuming you have enough computer for it.  You didn't specify...

XP.  IIRC, either Tom's Hardware or Anandtech even did a benchmark test, and
I believe XP was near the top most of the times.

Regardless, it's so much better than 9x; I personally attribute all of those
VIA-chipset problems back in the day to the fact that Win98 was a *** to
set up with the proper drivers.  XP is a dream...

I have my complaints about XP (mostly political or philosophical), but it
certainly is the most trouble-free version of Windows yet.  Have to give it
that.

The way I beat up an OS install,  in the days of Windows 98 I used to have
to re-image monthly.  It would suffer from "Windows Rot" so bad after 30
days I would need to start over.

Now, the only images I bother to create are a base install with the device
manager at a green-board state.  I usually build a new machine before I ever
have to re-image.

Win98SE does it all on my *** box. You probably already own
a license from paying "M$ Tax" with an old computer, so you
invest the price of XP into better HW.
