Logitech MOMO Pedals?

Logitech MOMO Pedals?

by Scott Stoddar » Wed, 23 Jan 2002 03:24:08

I am preparing to purchase the Logitech MOMO wheel.  I seem to recall some
initial comments that the pedals, while not bad, could be made better with a
couple of simple modifications, one of which I believe involved using a
tennis or squash ball.

Can anyone summarize for me the perceived quality of the MOMO pedals and the
best ways to improve them?

Many thanks for all helpful replies!

I have grown to like them, they are of a pretty good quality for the price,
onviously not up to ECCI, BRD or TSW standards. I put half a squash ball
filled with tissue paper under my brake pedal and it has become vitually
impossible for me to lock my wheels now.

Did you open up the pedal case and stick it in there, or slide it underneath
the actual brake pedal?

You remove the brake spring, and place the squasball on the bottom of the
case (it fits nicely in the hole, where the spring touched the case before).
I used some tape to stop the pots from falling out, when I closed the case
up again. I use a whole squashball, by the way (blue one, but some use other
colors).

I think it's a big improvement over the spring, because the pressure
increases as you push the pedal further. This means you have to push it hard
in order to brake hard. It's much stiffer then the spring, but I soon got
used to that. When I calibrate the brake pedal, I push it to a comfortable
pressure (but not all the way through). Another advantage of the stiffness
is that you can rest your left foot on the brake pedal, without having to
worry about braking unintentionally.

Love the wheel, but I use the Actlabs performance pedals with the clutch,
100% percent better, makes an awesome combo.

The squash ball modification (as described by others here) makes
the brake pedal excellent. The throttle is ok, but has a to
short throw imo. E.g. exiting parabolica in gpl is harder than
necessarily because of this. Anyone tried to increase the throw of
the throttle?
