N4-Set Up Questions

by Paul Jage » Sun, 25 Mar 2001 17:27:53

I am just beginning to try and learn how to set up the cars in N4, rather
than relying on the kindness of others to post their own set ups. However, I
have a few questions that I hope someone can guide me on;

1) when creating a set up is there a order in which elements of the car
should be altered  ie  do I work on the shocks before the springs, or the
camber before the shocks?
2) if when I brake into a corner the car becomes loose, should I just play
around with the brake bias or is there a better way to change the handling?
3) Wedge confuses me, and when to change it?
4) I find extremely difficult to keep my line when turning. Is there an
element of the set up I can change to help? I wondered if altering the toe
in/out might be a solution?

I have read a number of guides on the net about set ups (including those at
Blackhole) but the above matters still
allude me.

Thanks

PJ

If you want the best guide on the net, then go to www.sascar.com and click
on the N4 link.
Rodney Arndt has written a 70 page guide that is downloadable and printable.
There are other guides there as well. Bob Stanley's driving guide is a must
read.
You will also want to check out a thread at the www.team-lightspeed forums
under NASCAR 4 setups. It's titled "Doug/Bob Working Bristol". Doug Arnao,
Bob Stanley and McPherson walk their way throught the thought process of
setting up a chassis at Bristol. Great information.
Hope this helps.

I agree!  Rodney Arndt's guide is what I use for setups.  It's very
indepth and well thought out.  He should charge money and sell it in a
book :)

N4-Set Up Questions

Rodney is a rare individual, he's done a ton to help the sim community. Not
to mention that after racing him on many occasions, he is one of the most
courteous drivers I've ever seen. It's easy for me as a backmarker to be
courteous, but he does it when he's lapping me! ;)
Over at www.team-lightspeed.com under the N4 guides is a series of track
guides that Bob Stanley is writing. Each guide coincides with the track that
the WC cars are racing at.
The amount of information that these two are putting out for N4 at no cost
to us is amazing.
