DTR: Geez, the AI is GOOD!

I got the DTR demo last night and set the AI to 70% for racing.  Well,
I got my lunch eaten at that setting, and I've no problem beating the
AI in GPL.  Doesn't really bother me (just leaves room to improve), but
I'm curious if it's because the setups are locked out.  Do the setup
adjustments give you a whole lot more speed over the default in the
demo?

I also wondered if it is really the "AI" that is good in the DTR demo,
or if they just have cars with a lot more HP. I'll know more after
installing the retail version of the game. However, IMO the car that I
drive in the demo would benefit from a change in gearing that might
help things a bit.

   Hi Doug and Chris,
You are both right in suspecting that the 100% AI in the demo have an
advantage, but its not more horsepower. Its all in the setups. The
setups on our site all have the stamp on them of '100% AI Killing' and
that pretty much explains what you can do with them :)  Where the fun
begins is Online though, where basically everyone racing is capable of
trouncing the hardest AI. I'd say the best use for the AI at that point
is to *always* let them get ahead of you and then practice slicing
through them...in fact if we could save replays, this would make a
really entertaining thing to have submitted.

Anyway, if you want the setups, they are at:

The AI in DTR is tough.  But, it is beatable.  I was a tester and at first I
thought it was too tough, but as you learn the driving lines ans such the AI
is beatable.  It just takes time.  This is one of the best asspects of DTR.
If it was easy to beat the AI right off the bat, all would master the game
and it would become boring.  This will keep you on your toes, and strive to
get better and better.
