HELP!! 0.3 fps in GPL OpenGL

by Rolf Isaksso » Tue, 29 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Hi

After some softwarehunting (papy, opengl95 ..) I now got the
opengldriver for GPL to work.

The *stunning* framerate is 0.3.

System P-II 266 64 Mb
Freetech MB
STB 4400 TNT 16 AGP
W95 (not OSR2), DirectX 6, MS Opengl32.dll, STB 1.42 driver (Nvidia 0.48
doesnt help)

I know these issues has been in this NG before but the articles have
expired.

Any suggestions Please!!

/Rolf
(PS NFS 3 runs fine)

I run it on a 166mmx with 64mb ram and a 3dfx card - Diamond Monster - I get
22-26 fps in practice at Monaco - with cars it does slow down a lot but not too
bad if I restrict it to 6,  but in reality I can still enjoy these
circuits-invest in a 3dfx card!! Good luck.

You need a computor with enough stroke to handle GPL and get 36 FPS on line.
Anything less than this, and ur quality goes south in varying degrees

Stroke=P2 450
Stroke= 3dfx or v2000 rend.

this is where it is, a fact.

You're using Microsoft's software OpenGL driver, not the hardware
accelerated NVidia ICD.  Do other OpenGL games (Quake2 for example)
run properly?  If not, you'll need to contact NVidia for instructions
on using their drivers with their OpenGL ICD on an original Win95a
machine.

I can't help you with the specific issues, but try www.dejanews.com to get
any and all former postings on the subject in rec.autos.simulators.
