the only Xbox game in January's Top 10 Sales list is at the very bottom; the
extremely pandering Xtreme Beach Volleyball, behind a Gameboy title I never
heard of.

I don't think anyone was arguing that the Xbox is selling well at all
(altho, again, Halo and Splinter Cell are the only really killer apps
the console has had so far).  I'm genuinely surprised to see DOA:XBV
(as fantastic of a game as it is!) being in the top 10 of a sales
chart, because the local shops don't seem to be pushing it out the
door well at all.

The fact that it's dwarfed in sales by the PS2 and still has a much
larger online community is interesting, tho, especially considering
that the Xbox leaves analog users out in the cold.  I'm looking
forward to moving this spring and getting my DSL setup again so I can
get my Mech*** on, wot.

Why are you so worried about MS and their xbox?  Is it because it has been
selling so well lately?  Is it because it has clearly passed Nintendo as the
