The RS2League has done an indepth analysis of the Standard GamePort, Thrustmaster ACM GameCard, CH Products Auto3 Gamecard, and PDPI L4 GameCard.

They aren't reviews... they are tech papers on how they work, put in Layman's Terms.

What does this have to do with FrameRates, etc.

I HIGHLY suggest you read the papers if you don't know the answer to that... It could save you some HAIR PULLING in the future... I guarantee it.

The URL is:  http://www.racesimcentral.net/

I suggest you read all of them.... but the REALLY important one is the "Standard GamePort" Paper. You'll see why...

Cheers,

I found this to be very interesting and informative, but since I'm the kind of
jerk who must know it all, I have further questions.  Does the SBLive include
this type of onboard polling, or was the huge improvement in jitter I
experienced simply because the gameport was now in a PCI slot?  Does USB
connection eliminate the need for this kind of polling, or just make it
impossible to implement?  Inquiring minds want to know, and I'm sure there's
one somewhere around here.

I got his post just as it was intended.  Maybe everyone should take a
Ritalin before posting.
