INDYCAR RACING SERIES - INDIANAPOLIS RULES ADDENDUM
---------------------------------------------------

Welcome to ICRS! So you've decided to take the challenge, and run the
500 miles at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway huh? Well it will be a
grueling race, hopefully one that will make you respect what the actual
drivers go through each Memorial Day weekend.

Included here is the rules file for our series. ALL rules will be in
effect for Indy with these exceptions:

1. If this your first race with our series you will be restricted to
the Pro and/or Champ divisions. No 1st timers in the Rookie Division
   for this race.

2. In the Pro and Champ divisions you may run any engine you like.

3. You may run this race in single race mode versus champ season as ICRS
requires.  However, you will recieve no points credit for most laps
led by doing this. To run in champ season mode use your current champ
season and accelerate time to Indy.

4. You MUST run the drivers.txt file coded below or also available at our
Internet home site at Didnt.doit.wisc.edu/PublicFiles/Racing/ICR.  Our
official CARS.DAT file is NOT REQUIRED, but you may want to d/l it anyway.
It was written by co-director Ralf Southard (Sabata) and contains all the
   team drivers/sponsors as of 6/94.

5. Hot laps competition for Indy will require the winner to upload a cut
replay of your hotlap to the directors.  Be sure and run hotlaps in
pre-season testing or qualifying modes with no other cars on the track.
You must make this file available to co-director Ralf Southard by one of
   two methods:

   a) make it available to Ralf via ftp from a site in which you can place it.

6. You MUST follow Indianapolis guidelines for using the warmup lanes at
Indy. You will be allowed to enter the pits from the front straight,
but you MUST use the warmup lane to exit the pits to the backstrech.

7. You MUST first install the AI patch for Indy which can also be found at
   didnt.doit.wisc.edu/PublicFiles/Racing/ICR/Updates.  This patch will
change the speeds at which the computer cars run.  It was provided to
from Papyrus.  Grab the file  PATCH.ZIP and follow these directions:

   A) Copy the file PATCH.EXE to your C:\Indycar\Tracks\Indy directory.
   B) From the dos prompt type PATCH (or from windows file mgr click on
      PATCH.EXE)
   C) You may now get the message "cannot find file INDY.RTP. File not
updated". If you get this message take the following steps. Rename
the file PATCH.RTP to INDY.RTP. From dos type REN PATCH.RTP INDY.RTP.
   D) Type PATCH again and the update will now find the INDY.RTP file and
update the INDY.DAT file. Make a backup copy of your INDY.DAT file
if you wish to uninstall the patch after our race.

(The Indy patch basically updates the speeds at which the computer cars
run. I've also noticed it alters the line they take down the straightaway.)

Great! So you're set to run, right? Once you've made the decision to run
the race please register with us by sending your real name, engine/chassis
combo, and what division you intent to run to screen names ICRS and SABATA

special Indy mailing list, whereby you will recieve settings for the race,
results, and special reports during the week of Indy.

ICRS directors have a few surprises in store for Indy. Final race format
will be described in your race settings mail. Also check the ICRS folder
in the sim auto area message board (use keyword "ICRS") for our hot laps
competition.

If you have questions or problems write to Petty43Fan or Sabata for a quick
response. And please remember, our series relies on the honesty of each
competitor. Please follow all rules completly, and have a blast driving
the Indy 500!
