Reactor...Ready to order...One concern though

by Ron » Thu, 07 Nov 1996 04:00:00

I am about ready to purchase the Reactor 3d card by Intergraph but am
concerned about my system being able to recognize and over-ride the
on-board S3 Trio64. I have an AT&T Globayst 375TPC 100mhz pentium. I
do run Windows95 which came installed on my system. I was told by AT&T
tech in the past that if I ever chose to upgrade my video, make sure
it is TRUE plug n play PCI. This will be my first attempt at upgrading
the video via the pci slot. I am a little unclear as to the process I
may be facing in order to do this as to previous posts refering to
problems with the bios, ect... As to my knowledge, I have no switch to
disable my MB based video.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ron

If what the AT&T tech said was right, then your computer should
recognize the Reactor as a VGA device and automatically disable the
onboard video.  You might have to manually remove the onboard video
from the Display Adapters section of the Device Manager.

Really the best way to find out it to try it for yourself.  I know it
can be a hassle, but if it doesn't work out you can always return the
card.  Sorry if that's not what you want to hear.  Perhaps someone else
has already tried something similar.

The Reactor 3D is definitely Plug-n-play. My computer recognized it
immediately and reconfigured. Win'95 also immediately recognized it and
asked for the driver disk. Even if it doesn't work, Intergraph has a 14-day
return policy.
