It must not be that much greater or everyone would be on it.   They had a
chance to get ahead of the game and for reasons I don't know, but they
missed a huge opportunity IMO.

Has nothing to do with how great it is or isn't

I have seen some of the greatest message forums go empty because people do
not see others posting there, while at the same time a horrible message
forum is thriving.

If people do not see others there, they will not try it

The connections on OLR are outstanding, you can do 10x more things on it
than you can with the native multiplayer in N4.  So why is everyone on
sierra.com? Because that is where everyone else is....

I was not around when TEN started, but I would be very willing to bet that
at the beginning, it was not nearly as popular as it was at the end.

People just don't care anymore.  The *** simmers have completely lost
faith on serious online multiplayer racing.  The gamers don't really need
anything more then what's already inside N4.  Serious pickup racing is dead
(well it never really existed in fact).  As for leagues, they still exist,
but OLR has no real advantage for them.  OLR also has in the past had some
little problems coping with our needs, so not everybody likes them.

But I appreciate the effort.

Well Nascar Racing 2 had no internet multiplayer at all except via IPX, so
there was no real "other place" where people raced except on Hawaii.  So
everybody jumped real fast on the NROS.

Well, perhaps if they ever got out of "beta" and highly advertised it, it
might do better.
I would think it would be a great place for leagues that don't have servers
at their fingertips.

OLR is Great!

We at SCORL tried using it. The Pro's and Con's of it are below:

Pro's
-connections were good for modems to cable/dsl
-central location and chat

Con's
-longer races would seem to not finish without booting
-race dependant on connection of host for all drivers
-fixed setup not able to be choosen
-servers would go down, timeout, etc... frequently

I liked OLR but it did seem that they were taking quite awhile to fix
the issues. Being up for over a year+ I would have thought they would
have been more structured. One cannot believe that this isn't costing
them to run it for free! Now that we have moved to IP (non-Sierra due to
timeouts connecting to WON), we have had better, trouble free racing.
