Problem with GPLSpyBoy

Problem with GPLSpyBoy

by Phil G » Tue, 16 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,

I connected to a race at GPLSpyBoy today for the first time.  I got to
the pit lane OK.

The problem was that my gas and brake pedals did not work, nor did my
paddle shifters.  I went to Options, but nothing responded.

I exited and went back in to GPL offline and everything was fine.  I
reconnected to the race and nothing worked again.

I have a Logitech Wingman Formula Force with the latest Logitech
Wingman Profiler (V3.3).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil G.

Sounds like you are using the Profiler for the Wingman software.Try making
up a profile and associate it with GPLlaunch which is in your Spyboy
directory.

Or disable the profiler completely and assign your bindings for once and for
all in GPL itself. Since the new profiler still doesn't let you choose whether
to assigns separate axis per application I still can't figure out why to use
it.  It's only an extra level of uncertainty included.

With the latest version, you can assign split-axis on a per application
basis. Using the profiler, you can almost double the number of buttons
on your wheel, and you can have it send out pre-typed messages (like PO)
or whatever at the touch of a button... no more reaching around the
wheel, trying to reach the keys while keeping an eye on the road.

I still find a deadzone when I use the Profiler software so I stopped using
it soon after the latest drivers were released. I miss having the button
presets on the wheel, but I got over it, and my car control is much better.

In GPL, I have the slider set to fully linear and that seemed to
remove any dead-zone that was present. It took a week or so to get
used to the setting, but I'd never go back.
I'll try it without the profiler and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks everyone!

I'll create a new profile pointing to the GPLLaunch.

Actually I was in touch with Alison Hine and she sent me her Wingman
profiles (Thanks again Alison!).  She asked me to try them and to let
her know if they work.  If they do she'll post them on the Eagle
Woman's web site.
