It's *very* easy to ***, isn't it? So what are we ***ing about? AI and
customer support I understand. That's fine.

1. If you want 100% perfect AI, GO PLAY PAC-MAN FOR GOD'S SAKE!

2. Find ONE (1) game company that is more present in *any* newsgroup and
has more customer contact than Papyrus.

Thank you very much for reading this, and to all you whiners: please think
about it. Be happy with what they made for you. What else would you be
using your computers for? Probably you wouldn't even own pc's: you would be
playing F-Zero 64 on the Nintendo 64 I guess.

Grow up.

GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And *please* do NOT reply to this message, as not to start another useless
thread! Just consider it and be HAPPYHAPPYHAPPYHAPPYHAPPY (Well, forget the
happy-stuff... :)   )

Has anyone noticed that when Sierra/Papyrus does respond to this
newssgroup it is always negative feedback. I wish that they would be
proactive and ask us what we want in a game instead of telling us what we
need.

The only reason for them being involved in this newsgroup is apparently to
play netnanny. It would be nice maybe if they would give us some hints on
setups and maybe the proper groove to drive the track. This would be a
great service.

The setups that came with these games are ridiculous. This would be a
better way of serving your cusomers than trying to p_ss them off.

Over what time period is that opinion based? I think there's plenty of
folks who would disagree with that statement. (www.dejanews.com) Anyone
willing to back me up on that?

Uh, yeah, whatever.

While I was a Papyrus employee, I was fairly active in r.a.s., and I
believe I spent a lot more time helping folks than I did playing
netnanny. And I see the same thing from current Papy employees, until
they are run out of r.a.s. by flagrant illegal activity which they are
ethically forced to report to management or cease reading the group. Of
course, if people insist on publicly violating Papyrus or other
Papyrus-related intellectual property, you'll see one of two behaviors:
a) All Papy folks will leave rather than be bothered reporting the
illegal activity against their company to mgmt.
or
b) Papy folks will try to get people to stop publicly admitting to the
illegal activity, only to be accused of playing netnanny.

Right now, you're seeing a combination of the two no doubt. Most
everyone I politely advised to stop did one of two sensible things:
stopped, or at least went underground where I didn't see them. Either
was fine with me, and I think I only sent one notice to legal, for
someone who just plain wouldn't stop. That individual got what they
deserved no doubt.

Use your head; if you're doing something illegal, do it quietly and
don't get caught. If you do get caught, it sure as hell ain't the fault
of the guy who catches you!

Right on both counts, neither of us can apparently help with your
problem.

This was the post to which I replied:

While that was not specifically addressed to me, the question begins,
"Has anyone noticed..."

I was at one time a Papyrus employee, and while I was a Papy employee
I did post here. And in fact, there was *at least* one post of mine,
while a Papy employee, that wasn't negative feedback, therefore, I had
pertinent information to respond to this thread and did.

The problem of certain people not wanting to hear from other people in
UseNet has been going on for more than a week now... Someone AT LEAST
a month ago came up with kill files to (mostly) solve this problem. If
you don't want to read someone's posts, kill file them.

No, sometimes I sure don't... But I'm more able to believe it the more
times I see outrageous arrogance...

I remember somewhere around a year and a half ago when I first got ICR2 and
I had quite a few questions and invariably they were answered by Rick
Genter, the technical lead for the game. And yes, it was all most
helpful. OK, so this was pre-patch so there was the slight matter of a
traction bug thing but it was still playable. When the patch came out, it
was a lot better and I enjoyed the game more. However, I did remember quite
a few guys in the newsgroup griping about the fact that the patch was on
Hawaii but not on Sierra's ftp site and all that, but then, there were
responses given by Ed Martin as to the reason for that (though I can't
remember what it was).

So anyway, there you go. I don't think that all the responses were negative
feedback.

Actually, when you think about it, some people frequenting this ng can be
rather spoilt. When F1GP first came out, I had a mongo-ninja
state-of-the-art 386DX/33 and I couldn't get 25 fps, more like 12-13 fps. I
wasn't frequenting this ng then so I can't say whether people were ***ing
about that fact then. I certainly wasn't ***ing about it. So I was using
a keyboard with steering help on and all that but I sure as heck thought it
was better than Accolade's Grand Prix Circuit. Heh, remember that one? Mine
was in 2 360k floppies and if you had a CGA screen, you only used disk 1
but if you had EGA (or VGA as well?) then you had to insert disk 2 as
well. Just as well that my mongo-ninja 286 and two floppy drives. And then,
whilst we were all waiting for GP2 to come out, I had a mongo-ninja
486DX4/100 and I was using a patch on F1GP to get more than the max frame
rates! So GP2 came out and my mongo-ninja P133 could even get more than 13
fps. But that's OK, since I figured that somewhere before GP3 comes out,
I'd probably be getting 40 fps on GP3 with whatever mongo-ninja PC I'll be
using then. Same thing with ICR1, ICR2, N1 and N2 I guess. I don't know, is
it just me or what but weren't we all a bit more patient and less demanding
once?

In F1GP, the top dog was one Carlos Sanchez or something. In ICR1, I think
that Mario Andretti wasn't in the line up. I don't know about N1 since
never really followed Nascar (though I can still remember watching Cale
Yarborough when I was younger that I am now...). I don't think that too
many people complained. Besides, even if we wanted to complain, it wasn't
like there were any guys like Papy's who would respond anyway.

Well, I've rambled on a bit so I guess that's it for now. Back to
lurking...
