Sega Rally and Daytona

Over the weekend I saw versions of both Sega Rally and Daytona for
sale for the PC.  Has anybody tried any of these, and are they any good?

Cheers

I thought Sega-Rally was kinda fun (even with a few quirks),
but - IMO - Daytona-USA for the PC is the worst piece of
crud you could ever spend your money on...Too bad they've
locked-up the rights to the name for the next 3-years...  :(

I have sega rally and i must say that in 640x480 in 8 bit color mode
its a bit too slow on my p120 with reactor and 24mb ram...the 320x200
flies though but of course its ugly... My friend has Daytona and says
that it's unplayable...he has a p100 with reactor and 32mb ram...

if that is of any help...i have yet to see a direct 3d game that runs
as fast as a dos game using the rendition...

Both Daytona and Rally share the same properties as the garbage you take
out every week.

Do Daytona and Rally even use Direct3D? I didn't think they did...
I don't have either, but I thought they only used DirectDraw, or
whatever the heck Microsoft calls the 2D support.
I have a Screamin' 3D, and I do agree with you about the DOS vs.
Direct3D statement.

I've just returned my copy Rally Chamionship.

On a Intel VX motherboard P166 16Mb with an ET6000 video

16 bit colour was too slow and jerky
8 bit colour was nice and fast, very smooth BUT the colour was
poor (only 256 shades) and on this machine the rendering 'missed'
bits ie there were holes in the scenery!!

Try the demo and see if you like it.

You need to spend "only" $250 dollars to play both of these games at
home on a Saturn (which, by the way, are both excellent arcade racers).
In general, I don't think arcade games translate very well to a PC.
That's why I'll stick to racing sims on my PC.....and arcade games on my
consoles.

Best wishes,
Manny
