Carsets Newbie Questions

I have NASCAR and ICR2, and a T2. I've deleted most of the LTO
(left turn only) tracks, and all of the street tracks from ICR2.
I'm a road racing fan and SCCA corner worker who decided long ago
that he'd never: a) afford to race; and, b) fit in one of those little
cars.

I'd like to add carsets to either or both programs. The NASCAR cars
are too big and heavy for Sears and the Glen, while the ICR2 cars
are too snappy, with too much punch to be a lot of fun to drive. I've
seen the IROC carsets, and they might be a good step if the carset
duplicates more than the images of the cars.

I'm looking for info on the IROC and BTCC carsets: can the size, weight,
handling and response of the cars be modeled, or is it just a Winston
Cup car with a different body? I realize that, in the case of the Dodge
Avengers, that's pretty close to the truth. My ideal carset would
simulate a GT3 sedan, ala NASPORT, or an S2 sports racer. Can this be
done with a carset, or am I stuck with the basic physics of the
software, with only the screen images changing?

Unfortunately, you are stuck with the physics built into the software.
However, there are things you might consider.  Work on a setup that
works for you (forget about the AI guys and the track records).  Once
you get a setup that you will get you around the track in a half-way
decent mode, alter the parts of the game we can.  The easiest is alter
the Opponents' percentage level to bring them down to your speed (or
up).  You can also alter this in the track.txt file for each track (the
line that starts with RELS).  I haven't messed with the other numbers in
the track.txt file, but you can change the grip and tire wear.  There
are more than a few geniuses here that should be able to give a few
pointers on changing the track.txt file.

<snip'd>

Yup, Hit it right on the head......you can change things such as
aggresiveness and aero, but the physics remain the same.
