i do agree with you, a proper driving sim is something more akin to
Sega's Ferrari F355 Challenge (if you're looking ta console games
specifically)

however, Doug has a point, Sony themselves do call the GT series
driving simulators, they just fail to mention theyre not very
realistic ones :)

It's an exceptionally good driving simulator, just a shit racing
simulator due to the absence of AI and damage. But it's a much better
driving simulator than F355. Forcing in-car view and making it hard
doesn't make it realistic. The car physics and handling model in GT is
untouched on consoles (Forza 2 doesn't even come close).
