The wife would have a cow, if she knew I had stayed on this box from 5pm
yesterday to 5:30am this morn'(solid DTR - the occasional email),
consequently my 3 year old daughter Ashley partied with me all nite, except
for a short nap, and took a turn or 2 at DTR on daddy's lap!!<VBG>
DTR has inspired in me the same kind of e***ment that I felt when I
first started racing GPL on VROC, 10-12 hours a day, every day and even more
on weekends, I will need an intervention when the full version comes my
way!!
I have bought every Papyrus Racing game offered, and I am thankful for
them, but N99 and N3 were disappointments, if it weren't for League racing
N3 would be a bore, and searching the arena's for a decent connection IS
boring, so it is with mixed emotion I say this, Papy had better Tighten up
and produce, or lose the  "Hard Core Sim-Racers" that have bought every race
game they have put out expecting it to be better than the previous, and some
will say that N3 is better, and only by the thinnest of margins is N3
better, Graphics (imho) are the only real improvment to speak of, the
physic's in N3 are not realistic to me, I had a Chevelle with only 285HP,
that in 1st gear would roast the tires until the right foot lifted, W.Cup
stock cars have upwards of 750HP, N3 is like having 185HP in a 3250 lb
vehicle, and I personally expect more from what I considered to be a leader
in Auto-Racing Sims, maybe they are catering to 10 year olds and powder-puff
(not gender specific) racers.
I will continue my N3 League endeavors, as I enjoy the close friendships
and competetive racing that league racing provides, but I will most likely
Not be searching for a good ping on won.net,,  I'll be playing in the Dirt,
don't get me wrong, I love Nascar and  GPL is still in my mind the Superior
racing sim, but just as others were raised on F1,  I remember as a boy going
to the local dirt track with not only my Immediate family, but also my
uncle's family every Saturday night , without fail.........I'm 35 years old
now and tonight and tomorrow night Me and Dad will be at the dirt track
watching Late Models do 100 laps for $20.000, trying to keep the red clay
out of our eyes for the last time this year, GOD willing we'll do it again
next year!!!
Just my view of things, Happy Motoring !!

Just how long are the days in your part of the world?  10-12 hours sim racing
+ 8 hours working + 1 hour commute to/from work + 1 hour for lunch + 15 minutes
for supper + 15 minutes for shower/shave  + 30 minutes to get ready for work in
the morning + 30 minutes for other misc actions throughout the evening comes to
a  21 1/2 to 23 1/2 hour day and no sleep in included.  I would have added in
sex but what is 3 minutes to a stud like you? :-) Paul

I have a 2 1/4 year old daughter that loves to get in my lap and grab the
wheel.  HEr favorite is ViperRacing (I do the throttle of course) because
she can drive through the infield skidpad at that first track (whatever its
called) and not hit anything.  IF she does hit anything, the FF in my wheel
makes her giggle hysterically and she asks to see it again and yells BOOM!
when we watch the replay of her whacking something.  She is especially fond
of flipping the car over and declares..'Oh no!  UPsidown!'

She also likes to stand next to me leaning on my leg and watch me race.  If
she hears the sound of engines coming from my office, she runs in e***dly
saying 'daddy race? daddy race?'.  IF I am doing something boring (to her)
that isn't racing, she will point at the monitor and demand 'race cars'.

Little does my wife know I am trying to raise her so I will have someone to
race against on my home LAN, she does have her own computer already...

I do spend alot of time with my daughter, read to her, coloring books, and
of course her pc games and read to me books, she is more important than
racing , so if she wants me , I'm there :-)) that would account for at least
3-4 hours , but it's when she wants

Great story.
I'm glad that she finds everything other than track action boring Dave. I'd
hate to think that a two year old was being corrupted of her innocence in a
place like RAS at such a tender age <G>

Just for fun, I just did some video captures of my daughter at the wheel,
driving ViperRacing, and put them up here:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

This obviously has more to do with my daughter than sim-racing, but maybe
some of you (especially parent-types) would enjoy seeing her wrestling the
wheel.

It also made me think of something else.  Maybe it would be fun to put
pictures of peoples' setups online someplace.  I'm sure they range from
regular work desks with a wheel or joystick handy to dedicated***pit
arrangements, etc.  I would like to see this stuff, anyway.  If anyone else
is interested, let me know, I have some server space I could post pictures
on.
