I already tried that too (I sucessfully did that once before to cure a very
similar problem on one or two other CDs).
However, CDRWIN told me that the GP3 CD was over 74min (I only have 74min
CD's on the shelf here) and it was reporting zillions on errors on reading
so I didn't go any further. Actually, the total files only come to about
395mb but I never tried doing a straight file/directory backup copy of it.
It was quicker just to borrow the kids cdrom drive to get going just for the
sake finding out that GP3 is sadly a pile of garbage anyway (for me anyway).
