A question to those of you who knows something about
the structure of GPL and who are busy making add-ons,utilites etc
for GPL:
Would it be posssible ,and how hard would it be to make an extension
so that yuu could watch the camera of another car,or to watch it
without being in any car at all?
This is possible when viewing the replays after the race, but I'd
like to be able to have that capability "live",too
(in order to spy on AI cars, not other human opponents!)
also, would it be possible to send that view over the network,
so that it could be watched by another computer?
(whether it participated or not in a race)

In theory, there's that damn word again, people should be able to join a
race but just watch instead of race.

neither the network protocol nor the game itself supports spectators (to
use a word from the quake community ;-) ). without deep knowledge of the
GPL source code I would say it is impossible to write such an extension.
in addition, the servers had to support the sending of data to spectator
clients also.

You can try shift-V to put yourself in the closest car - I think you have to
stopped first ( as in shift-R ), not that I ever have to use shift-R ..
ahem.
